Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to check a tithi, a festival date or today's choghadiya, whatever device or assistive technology they use. Change how GujjuCal looks and moves here. Your choices are saved in this browser.
Appearance
Auto follows your device's Light or Dark setting.
Contrast
High makes text darker, gives cards and buttons clear edges and underlines links. Auto follows your device's Increase Contrast setting.
Motion
Reduced turns off every animation, such as the pulsing "now" dot, loading shimmer and transitions. Auto follows your device's Reduce Motion setting.
Built into the website
Dark interface
Choose Light, Dark or Auto above. Auto follows your device. The dark theme uses warm, softened colours rather than pure white on black, which is easier on the eyes at night.
Sufficient contrast
Text colours in both themes meet WCAG 2.2 AA: at least 4.5:1 against their background, with form field borders at 3:1 or more. High contrast raises text to 8:1 or more, outlines cards, buttons and fields, and underlines links.
Reduced motion
Reduced turns off every animation on the site, including the pulsing “now” dot, the loading shimmer and opening transitions. Auto does the same whenever Reduce Motion is on in your device's settings.
Keyboard navigation
Every link, button and form field can be reached with Tab and used with Enter or Space, with a clear saffron focus ring. A “Skip to content” link is the first thing on every page, and menus and dialogs close with Escape.
Screen readers
Pages use real headings, landmarks and labelled controls, decorative icons are hidden from screen readers, and form errors and confirmations are announced.
Gujarati text
Gujarati words are marked as Gujarati, so screen readers that support the language pronounce them correctly.
Zoom and reflow
Pages reflow to a single column on narrow screens and stay usable at 200% browser zoom, with no sideways scrolling.
In the phone app
Dark Interface
Choose Light, Dark or Auto in Settings → Appearance, or from the side menu. Auto follows your phone.
Sufficient Contrast
Text and controls use the same contrast-checked colours as the website, in both light and dark. Delete confirmations use large, solid buttons instead of small system alerts.
Reduced Motion
With Reduce Motion on in your phone's settings, the side menu and welcome screens fade instead of sliding, and the “now” dot stops pulsing.
Our standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We know we may not have got everything right yet, and we fix problems as we find them. Ads on wide screens and videos are provided by Google and YouTube, and their accessibility is outside our control.
